Manager, Program

he/him

Over the past nine years, Richard's journey in education has taken him through quite the unique journey. From teaching in the small towns in Appalachia Kentucky with Teach for America to the greatest borough in the world, Brooklyn, where he's worked at a number of different CMOs, including Uncommon, Coney Island Prep and Ascend, Richard has spent time learning about educational equity and what it means for America across demographics. He's excited to join the team at Teaching Lab and bring that experience to his work as he supports math curriculum implementation across NYC Public Schools.

Richard Chou loves getting nerdy about math. Much of his education career has revolved around ensuring students receive the best possible mathematics education possible, and that passion has lived through the many stages of his career, whether as a math department chair, an assistant principal or a director of curriculum. He has a BS in Business and Enterprise Management from Wake Forest University.

Outside of work, Richard spends his time outdoors, either camping or hiking, doing yoga, or spending time with his dog Mae. His greatest dream is to be a contestant on Survivor and win the title of "Sole Survivor".
